How this page works, and how to make it yours

For appeals that ask for a monthly gift

Donors give to people, and they keep giving when they trust where the money goes. Cause Appeal is a clean template, a white ground with a black button, one gold highlight and a donation card, that opens with one named person’s story, proves scale with numbers, shows exactly where money is spent and asks for a small monthly gift.

It suits charities and NGOs, foundations and community trusts, hospice and food-bank appeals, school and hospital fundraising, advocacy campaigns and membership causes. Choose it when the brief must turn a reader into a regular donor.

How the page moves a reader to give

The hero tells a before-and-after in one sentence, “Amina walks four minutes for water now”, and gives the cost and reach of the intervention. An impact band follows with wells drilled, people served, wells still working after five years and the share of gifts reaching the field.

What one well changes compares a village before and after in hours and minutes. The work explains the hard part donors do not see, keeping things working, and where shows the charity’s focus on a limited area, which builds confidence.

Your money breaks down spending and explains how overheads are covered separately. Stories quote local people who run the programme, questions answers the doubts donors raise, and the page ends with give monthly, tying a small amount to a concrete result.

Adapting the design

Four schemes are included: Ink, Forest, Ocean and Brick. Headings can be Bricolage Grotesque, Familjen Grotesk or Epilogue. Seven photographs are used; choose images that show people with dignity and agency, with their consent.

Numbers, stories and the donation amounts are editable in place. Select the hero and ask the AI to rewrite it around a different beneficiary story when you run a new appeal.

Writing it for your cause

You can start from the template with no credits spent, or tick “Write the text for my business” and the AI replaces the sample copy for about 20 credits, keeping the layout. Include one real story with consent, your impact figures and how they are measured, how the work is sustained, where you work, how money is spent, voices from the field and your suggested monthly amount.

The figures a donor will check

Monthly donors give when they can see what a gift does, so this template leans on specific costs and outcomes. Work out the cost of one unit of your work, such as a well, a night of shelter, a school year or a hospice visit, and the number of people it helps. The impact band needs totals since a named year and one figure about how long the results last, like the share of wells still working after five years.

The money section is where trust is won or lost. State how much of each public gift reaches the programme, and if overheads are covered separately, say by whom. Make sure the figures match your published accounts and any regulator filings. The story section should follow one person or place before and after, with their consent and in their own words where possible. Seven photographs are used, so choose images that show dignity and work in progress rather than distress. Check the rules for charity registration numbers, tax relief wording and data consent on the donation form in your country.

Foundations, hospices, schools and campaigns

A community foundation can replace a single project with the funds it manages and the grants made last year. Hospice and food-bank appeals usually show the cost of a shift or a food parcel and a seasonal target with progress. School and hospital fundraising can focus on one building or piece of equipment with a deadline. Advocacy and membership campaigns can turn the donation card into a membership form, with what members receive and the change the campaign is pushing for.

When another template fits better

Cause Appeal asks for money. A one-day charity event or fun run with registrations fits City Marathon Race Day or Event. A campaign run with a brand partner and product sales suits Campaign Promotion, and a think tank or policy group publishing research belongs on Broadsheet Editorial.

04 questions

Before you start

Which causes suit this template?
Charities and NGOs, foundations and community trusts, hospice and food-bank appeals, school and hospital fundraising, advocacy campaigns and membership causes.
Does the page take donations directly?
The form collects the donor's details and chosen amount. Connect it to your payment or CRM tool, or link the button to your donation platform.
Why lead with one person's story?
People give to a person before a statistic. The numbers band follows immediately, so the story is backed by scale.
Which schemes are included?
Ink, Forest, Ocean and Brick, with Bricolage Grotesque, Familjen Grotesk or Epilogue headings.
